How to update QuickBooks to latest release

To keep the apps up to date so that you can access the most recent features and fixes. QuickBooks Desktop can be updated automatically or manually. When you enable Automatic Updates, QuickBooks automatically downloads and instals the most recent updates as soon as they become available. Check for updates at least once a month if you plan to do them yourself. This is not the same as updating your company file when you upgrade QuickBooks Desktop to a newer version or edition. Check to see if you have the most recent version.

• QuickBooks Desktop should now be open.
• To open the Product Information window.
• Press F2 (or Ctrl+1).

Examine the latest release and edition.

Check to see if you have the most recent release for your version:

• QuickBooks 2021
• QuickBooks 2020
• QuickBooks 2019
• QuickBooks 2018

Create a system for automatic updates.

• Select Update QuickBooks Desktop from the Help menu.
• Select the Update Now option from the drop-down menu. To clear all previous update downloads, select the Reset Update checkbox.
• To begin the download, select Get Updates.
• Restart QuickBooks until the download is complete.
• Accept the option to instal the latest release when prompted.

Future automated updates may be scheduled.

You can schedule updates to download later if you don’t want to download them right now.

• Select Update QuickBooks Desktop from the Help menu.
• Select the Options option from the drop-down menu.
• To allow automatic updates, select Yes.

Please note that you need to select Yes for each machine to share automatic downloads with other computers on your network.

• Close the window.

When updates become available, QuickBooks will automatically download them.

Manual updates

First, get the most recent updates:

• Close your QuickBooks and business papers.
• Open the Start menu in Windows.
• Look for QuickBooks Desktop on the internet. Pick Run as administrator from the context menu when you right-click the button.
• Go to the Help menu and pick Update QuickBooks Desktop while on the No Company Open screen.
• Select the Options option from the drop-down menu. After that, pick Save and then Mark All.
• Click the Reset Update checkbox on the Update Now page.
• Select Get Updates when you’re ready.

Close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop once the update is complete. Select Yes to instal the updates. Restart your machine once the installation is complete.

• Go to the Downloads & Updates section of the website.
• Choose your country from the Pick Country dropdown.
• Pick your product from the Select Product dropdown menu.
• Pick your version from the Select Version dropdown menu (year).
• Select the Search option.
• Choose the choice to receive updates. Save the file to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop.

When the download is complete, double-click the file to begin installing the update. Restart your machine after the installation is completed. Access the instal file on your machine from another computer to manually instal updates through your network. Alternatively, save it to a hard drive and move it to other devices.
