QuickBooks software is available in versions for freelancers, small companies, and large corporations. The app is available in both web and desktop versions. QuickBooks Online is less costly than the desktop editions in the beginning. There are no contracts, and the subscription price includes automatic app updates. It’s also compatible with mobile devices, making it available from anywhere. It’s typically better to start with a lower tier of QuickBooks and then upgrade as required.

Which QuickBooks Online Should You Buy in 2021?

QuickBooks is available in both an online and desktop edition. We didn’t include QuickBooks desktop software overviews in this guide because it’s more expensive and doesn’t provide any additional features.

According to the QuickBooks website, “3 out of 4 customers get more work done with QuickBooks Online vs QuickBooks Pro,” Intuit is moving its business customers away from desktop products and into online versions. Additional costs associated with QuickBooks desktop applications are also seen in the site’s side-by-side analysis. This is part of a broader shift in business applications toward cloud-based software and away from locally installed software.

We suggest online versions of products over desktop versions because of this trend and the cost difference unless you work in an industry with strict compliance or security criteria that prevent you from using online applications.

QuickBooks Self Employed:  QuickBooks Self-Employed is a software that allows you to keep track of your income, and QuickBooks Self-Employed is available in three different models. Here’s a rundown of each objectThe cheapest version of QuickBooks Self-Employed starts at $7 a month and includes many features for that amount. You can always switch to a higher-priced version later, so it’s not the wrong place to start if you’re new to using software like QuickBooks.

Self-Employed allows you to report company and personal expenses separately, automatically track mileage, submit invoices from anywhere, estimate your taxes quarterly, and optimise your Schedule C deductions.

QuickBooks Self-Employed Tax Bundle: QuickBooks, like other tiered cloud applications, adds more functionality with each tier while keeping all of the lower-level features. The Self-Employed Tax Bundle, which starts at $12 a month, includes everything in the Self-Employed plan plus a TurboTax Self-Employed account, which allows you to move your tax data from QuickBooks to TurboTax seamlessly. The payments for one federal and one state return are included in the TurboTax add-on. If you’re going to use TurboTax to file your taxes anyway, you might as well get this QuickBooks edition.

QuickBooks Self-Employed Live Tax Bundle: QuickBooks Self-Employed Live Tax Bundle is the most expensive of the self-employed QuickBooks models, starting at $17 a month. It provides lower-tier access as well as the following additional tax-filing assistance features:

  • A licenced CPA can provide you with unlimited assistance and guidance throughout the year.
  • Before you file, you’ll have access to a CPA who will conduct a final analysis of your tax return.

We haven’t personally checked these features, so we can’t vouch for the effectiveness of the tax practitioners you’ll have access to or the user-friendliness of the interface. Furthermore, many small business owners also delegate their tax preparation to trusted accountants or high-street tax preparation shops. You’re probably better off employing a long-term accountant than depending on a revolving cast of remote accountants hired by a large tech firm if you want a dedicated accountant.

QuickBooks Online and all its versions

Like most tech behemoths, Intuit provides a slew of very similar software packages with slightly different names and terms and features. In addition to the QuickBooks Self-Employed tiers, QuickBooks Online tiers are also available online and are offered in a SaaS format. QuickBooks Online is specifically designed for small companies, including both single-person and multi-person organisations.

QuickBooks Online: The QuickBooks Online plans were much more common among the entrepreneurs we spoke with than the desktop versions. QuickBooks Online’s success is possible because it is less costly than the desktop edition, can be used on mobile devices, and has no contract, allowing entrepreneurs to update or downgrade at any time.

Another advantage of QuickBooks’ cloud-based software is its low maintenance requirements: When you use cloud-based software, the company usually pushes out updates automatically, so you don’t have to do it yourself.

  • Simple Start If you have staff, you should skip to the next tier because the Simple Start version of QuickBooks is only appropriate for a single person. Simple Start costs $12 a month, which is higher than QuickBooks Self-Employed ($7) and the same as the QuickBooks Self-Employed Tax Bundle ($12).

This simple small business subscription allows you to keep track of revenue, sales tax, profits and expenditures, invoice and accept payments, store and organise receipts, and optimise tax deductions. However, it does not include a TurboTax subscription, and if you hire more workers that need entry, you’ll need to upgrade to Essentials, if not higher.

  • Essentials: Essentials offer three users access to QuickBooks Online for $20 a month. It’s a step up from the Simple Start kit, with more reports built-in and additional bill management features, including monitoring payment statuses and paying several vendors at once.

Plus: Plus is the most common online edition of QuickBooks, according to Intuit. This accounting software supports up to five users. It provides all of the functionality found in Essentials and Simple Start and the ability to monitor inventory and project profitability. A monthly Plus membership costs $35.

In conclusion, QuickBooks Desktop software is accounting software used by all categories of bookkeepers and accountants. In this particular blog, you will get to know more about the different versions of the software so that you can pick one of them according to your needs. I hope this blog helps you choose the correct version of the software and was worth your time.
